iOS jailbreaking is the process of removing software restrictions imposed by Apple on iOS and tvOS. It does this by using a series of software or bootrom exploits. Jailbreaking permits root access to iOS, allowing the installation of additional applications (with root-access), extensions, and themes. All these nice things are unavailable through the official Apple App Store of course.

Here a list of the devices I’ve jailbroken:

  • iPhone 4; iOS 5.1.1; RedSn0w
  • iPhone 4; SwitchBoard Prototype OS 5.1; RedSn0w
  • iPod touch 4; iOS 6.1.6; RedSn0w/P0sixspwn
  • iPhone 4; iOS 7.0; CoolBooter
  • iPhone 4; iOS 7.1.2; Pangu7
  • iPhone 4; iOS 6.1.3; Pluvia-Master (Github; untethered downgrade)
  • iPhone 3GS/4; nonUI Prototype SB 5.1 RedSn0w (-> Root-Access/remount ah yeah)
  • iPhone 3GS; iOS 6.1.6; RedSn0w/P0sixspwn
  • iPhone 3G; iOS 3.1.3; Whited00r7.1 (later this year Whited00r11 Special-Beta)
  • iPad 1; iOS 5.1.1; Grayd00r9
  • iPhone 5; iOS 9.3.2; HomeDepot
  • iPod touch 5; iOS 9.3.2 & iOS 9.3.5; HomeDepot & Phoenix Jailbreak
  • iPhone 4S; iOS 9.3.5; Phoenix Jailbreak
  • iPhone 5; iOS 10.3.3; h3lix Jailbreak
  • iPhone 5C; iOS 10.3.4; h3lix Jailbreak

You can do so many cool things with a jailbroken iDevice:

  • SSH; root access
  • Install unauthorised software
  • Install themes.
  • Install an other (i)OS
  • Get apps for free
  • Manually change the everything on your system
… and a lot more! #freedom for your iDevice!
